This morning we took a short walk before breakfast.  I chosen up Nutzo Multi-nut butter as a Christmas present to myself (from WF yesterday). I had high expectations for it provided the cost – $9.99!!!

Unfortunately, it didn’t rock my world. It’s good, however I was hoping it would be great sufficient that I wouldn’t requirement jelly on top. Dehogy.

I like that it’s extremely crunchy as well as you can really see the sunflower seeds in it, however I don’t believe the taste justifies the price.

Then, I wished to do some stamina training – something I neglected last week! I was about to go to the gym, however Ben reminded me about his goodwill weights set. They are supposed to be changeable, however only one of them works (the other is stuck at 40lb.). So, I did one side of arms at a time.

It’s a great thing I stayed house since Ben stated I was dressed like a crazy nutzo person. It’s funny since it’s true…

exactly how to set a goal for the stack on the Miles 21 Day Challenge.

Pile on the Miles was originally a running difficulty where we tried to run more miles in November. however throughout the years it’s grown as well as altered (just like us). now the difficulty is about setting a goal that is important to YOU as well as staying accountable to it.

You set your own goal.
You show up as well as inspect in every day.
You see results.

It’s simple however it’s not easy.

Setting your goal for this difficulty is important. The goal should be based on the wise goal formula of being specific, measurable, attainable, appropriate (or realistic) as well as time sensitive. (The time limit is already set – 21 days.)

How to set Your Running Goal:

What are your 3 huge or long term running goals right now? (Where do you want to be in 3 months? What is your 6 month goal? 1 year goal? These don’t have to be your biggest most important running goals – just the primary ones you’re working on.)
What are some things you can do right now to move in the direction of those long term goals?
What is your goal for the next 21 days during the challenge?

Examples of specific, measurable, appropriate goals:

I will run 3 miles a day 4 days a week.
I will run 20 miles a week.
I will run 3 miles Mon, 4 miles Wed, 5 miles Fri.
I will do 3 simple runs as well as 1 deliberate workout run.
I will run 3 days a week as well as do 2 days of stamina training.
I will do 30 minutes of cardio 5 days a week.
I will take a 30 minute walk every day.
I will swim for 20 minutes 3 days a week.
I will stick with my training plan of 5 runs a week (the specific runs should be set).

You can set a goal for the difficulty as well as utilize the mini-goals at the beginning of the week to develop on that progress.

Example of a POTM goal as well as 3 weeks of Mini-Goals:

Last night Ben and I went to his work holiday party at some fancy restaurant in Irvine. I would have paid attention to the name if I was a good food blogger or at least looked it up on the invite if I wasn’t so lazy. Nos, hát.

This picture isn’t blurry it’s just how I look after a lot of champagne…

I started with a glass of champagne as everyone got there/met.

Once we were seated the waiters brought out freshly baked bread. The smell was irresistable. Then, they kept refilling the basket and announcing, “Freshly baked bread!” when they set it down near me. Yeah, I dominated that thing.

I started with the salad, but stole Ben’s clam chowder because it was better.

For my main course I got the Salmon. It was good, but Ben got the pasta and it stole the show again!

Desserts were preselected so they just alternated giving every other person a chocolate or a vanilla-y mousse. I said a little prayer and chocolate was set down before me

This morning I slept in for the first time all week (until 7)! Ah. I needed that. When I finally peeled myself out of bed I got ready for a run: clothes, food, shoes, bathroom. Not in that order.

I had 15 on the schedule but my legs have been dragging considering that Thursday. I cut it to 13ish and berated myself about it for a bit. Bah. I lost my running mojo. My last 3 long runs have been really crappy and all my runs this week were unpleasant. I’m frustrated because mentally and physically I’m in a funk.

I think I need a new goal to work towards and a a lot more well rounded training program. I am going to look over my new running goals and figure out a way to fight the funk.

In other news, I always think runners who “run in place” while waiting for the light to change are so weird. Igazán? You need to jump up and down on the corner because heaven forbid you take 10 seconds of rest?

Well, today I realized I’m the weirdo when I used the stop light time to stretch. Re-enactment of a runner with no social skills…

“Don’t mind me, just doing some yoga poses along this public street…”

After the run I headed to whole Foods for some detox juice. I’m hoping this cleanses me of bad runs…

And hot bar food!

I also hit up the hot dessert bar. I shouldn’t have, but I’ve also lost my healthy eating mojo lately? I don’t know what my deal is but I just want to eat junk and cut runs short. “Monica, get it together!”

To address the ‘Running Bites” title… I nearly got bitten by a pet dog on my run today! less than one mile into my run I approached a lady walking two dogs. One pet dog was on the lawn and the other was on the sidewalk. As I got closer she didn’t step her pet dog from the middle of the sidewalk so I was about to step on the lawn opposite her other pet dog to go around them. (She seemed lost in her thoughts, but it’s hard for me to believe she didn’t hear me barreling towards them, I’m not a Gazelle – you can hear me coming!)

Her sidewalk pet dog had too much slack on the leash and lunged toward my leg making contact! I screamed and leaped out of the way. She was not paying attention and my scream/her dog’s growl finally woke her up. I kept running a few yards before I stopped to check my ideal calve (adrenaline made me want to keep going).

It only had pet dog saliva on it, no bite. But, that is ridiculous. If your pet dog tries to bite people you must be paying attention when you walk them on a public sidewalk at all times! She didn’t even yell sorry or anything.

I understand not all dogs are nice, but if your pet dog lunges at people you need to control them on walks. This isn’t the first time I’ve had to try and jump out of the way of a pet dog on a leash. I’ve nearly twisted my ankle jumping onto uneven lawn for this exact reason.

I have dogs and I pay attention when I’m walking them. I realize when a fellow walker tenses up at the sight of my dogs and I pull them in a little closer to put that person at ease. I know one of my dogs likes to sniff little boys, so I hold his leash tighter around little guys so he is not able to reach them.

I understand mistakes happen and maybe she was lost in her thoughts with some pretty severe stuff, so I’m letting this one go. but the pet dog made mouth to skin contact and I needed to vent.

My lil Brother’s High school graduation party and great Mexican Food

Hello! This weekend was my little brother’s high school graduation party!! So I want to share some of the highlights because my mother made very easy and cute centerpieces and had a table decorated with his school photos. everything came out great and it was fun!

The party was at La Barca Grill and Cantina – a Mexican restaurant in Downey, CA. I hadn’t been there before. My parents were going to have the party at their house but had to change it up because they’re working on the yard. fortunately this place was fairly close to home and has a room you can rent for parties. Bumm.

For reference (and because I’m always curious where things are in relation to a point I may know) here’s a map of where Downey is located with a few other points of interest:

* Note: I labeled some races around southern California – check my Race discounts page in case you want to register and save some money. It’s time to start training for fall half Marathons and Marathons now!! This includes the lace Up Race series and long beach Marathon / Half. *

We got there early and decorated a bit. I gave my mother some ideas for the centerpieces but she put them together. I liked the idea of using his graduation picture because we’re celebrating him and it was a good picture!

To make the centerpieces you need: glass vase cylinder, colorful shredded paper, sticks, construction paper, photos [plus scissors and glue to cut and paste the photos].

On the stick: Make the flags with the class year/name. put the photo on construction paper. Make the congrats message.

We put them together at the restaurant but you can do it before and transport them carefully.

The gift table was decorated with a big poster board that had his school picture from each year from kindergarten through 8th grade. We also put up his diploma (it makes for a great decoration too), photos from his activities, balloons, colorful napkins and a box for cards. The card box was labeled so people knew what it was for.

My father got a DJ but it didn’t turn into that kinda party. I did love his stickers though! eat sleep skratch Repeat… where’s the RUN?!

Aaaaand because it was a Saturday… and we’re Mexican… and margaritas exist…

There were a lot of margaritas to be had!

Since it was a big group party there was a preset menu with 4 choices plus a kid’s menu. All the choices were served with tortillas. plus chips and salsa of course!

A menü:

Carne Asada with green onion, guacamole served with beans & rice

Chicken Enchiladas made with green chili served with beans & rice

Pollo a La Plancha grilled chicken with garlic & onions served with beans & rice

Camarones al Mojo de Ajo shrimp sautéed with garlic served with beans & rice

My SIL got the enchiladas

My brothers both got carne asada

I got the chicken a la Plancha. everything was soooo good.

Then we cut the Costco cake and fell into a pleased food coma.

Overall: everything was awesome. I’d eat there again. I’d eat Costco cake again (even though my mother didn’t get the flavor I’d pick). I’d steal some of my brother’s guac again while waiting for my food.

And I’d love a margarita best now. Egészségére!

– Most már 6 mérföldet tudok futni, és jól érzem magam … pontosan meddig felkészültem egy félmaratonra?

“Tavaly karácsonykor 5K -t futtam, és ezt valaha is futtam – hiszed, hogy áprilisban tudok egy félmaratont futtatni?”

Igen, futtathat egy félmaratont. Az időzítés azonban a fizikai fitnesz szintjétől és az edzésig kell függnie.

Készen állsz egy félmaratoni edzésre, amikor:

1. Körülbelül 6 mérföldet vagy 10K -t futtathat, és nem küldheti el az egészségügyi intézménybe, és/vagy nem szereti a futást.

Miért – sok félmaratoni edzési terv kb. 5 vagy 6 mérföldön kezdődik hosszú futamuk. Tehát azt kell, hogy ezt a bázist úgy fejlessze ki, hogy egy héten keresztül tudjon futtatni ezt a szakaszot.

2. A heti kb. 4 vagy 5 nap van, amely lehetővé teszi az idő futtatását – ez 45 perc -egy óra lehet – egy nap, egy kicsit sokkal több idővel a hosszú futásokra.

Miért – sok edzési tervet futtatsz a hét 4 vagy 5 napján. Van néhány „futási 3 napos” terv, bár a kikapcsolási napokon még mindig át kell lépnie.

3. Valóban 13,1 mérföldet akarsz futtatni! <- A kívánság és a motiváció az első számú mutató. Ha akarod, válassza ki !!! véletlenszerű futó ötlet – gyakran tartom azokat a terület takarókat, amelyeket egy verseny után nyújtanak Önnek. Nem, nem teszem arra, hogy Ben -t használják őket aludni (annak ellenére, hogy ő veszi a borítókat!). Összehajtom őket, és gyakran használom őket a melegítő takaróként a következő versenyem előtt. Egy új jármű akkumulátor, valamint 100 dollár később, felütötte a Trader Joes -t, aki arra törekszik, hogy a kezem legyen néhány tökvajra. Ez az én preferált szezonális termékem (és ez nagyon sokat jelent az összes finomsággal) !!!

De még nincs benne. Lehurrogás.

Úgy gondolom, hogy ez egy olyan jelzés volt, hogy egyelőre örömömre szolgáljunk a sütőtök krémsajtban.

Tehát a futócipő, amelyet a maratonra vettem, végül megérkezett! Nappal későn úgy tűnik, hogy a Dollar Short a mai életem története.

De ez egy olyan jelzés lehet, amelyet még nem kellene feltennem a futásról …

A lábaim követelménye sokkal több pihenést, azonban eksztatikus vagyok, hogy ezeket a környezetbarát szellemeket futtassam! Majd egyszer.

Futtattam a Long Beach Maratont, azonban a chicagói maraton uralta a hírt. Ami furcsa, mivel itt mindenki úgy gondolja, hogy Kalifornia az univerzum központja…

A legszomorúbb hír egy 35 éves tűzoltó, aki tegnap Chicago futása közben halt meg.

És a világ sok csodálatos hölgye tegnap született a chicagói maraton befejezése után. Nem akarom csinálni egyiket sem, Spanyol labdarúgó-válogatott Mez nem is beszélve arról, hogy pontosan ugyanazon a napon csináljam őket!

I really Broke My Foot & walking Boot Recs

I broke my foot. Igen. I can’t believe what started as a bit of an ache in my left foot turned into a total break of my 2nd metatarsal! I’m sharing the progression of events from running someday to limping the next on the Run eat Repeat Podcast since it’s type of a long story for a video. however I did want to update you on the walking boot as well as supplements I’m utilizing as well as share a few of my thoughts on my present injured state.
